The MBMC is established in the year of the Automobile Centennial (1986). Mercedes-Benz AG, which itself is a member of the MBMC, has declared the club the wordwide patent organization of all Mercedes-Benz model carclubs. The goals of the MBMC as registered association are anchored in its statutes.

The goals of the MBMC are:

• to support members with the collection of Mercedes-Benz models in all scales.
• to provide members with information on old and new models, as well as to convey their antecedents and history.
• to maintain contacts to manufacturers and dealers of model cars.
• to encourage and to support the creation of special models.
• to carry out Mercedes-Benz model automobile exhibitions and model car exchange.

In addition to the numerous presentations at big fairs members are represented at smaller exchanges and fairs in orde to make the club known to the public. A particuler priviledge is that club members can purchase special models produced in small editions for the club. These and the advertising and special models of Mercedes-Benz AG, offered through the club "model-subscription", are available for sale exclusively to club members. Additional services of the MBMC are to support members in the collection of Mercedes-Benz models as well as to help with information concerning these models and the original vehicles which inspired them. This information has been provided to members for years through the "MBMC Journal".
